Brazilian-Italian lyric soprano based in Zürich, recognized for her expressive stage presence, refined musicality, and a voice combining lyric clarity, coloratura agility, and emerging spinto qualities. Her artistic path bridges opera and symphonic repertoire, with recent performances ranging from Mozart and French repertoire to Strauss, Mahler, and Bach. Alongside an active international career, she remains deeply committed to continuous artistic development through collaboration with leading musicians and pedagogues.
Camila graduated in Lyric Singing from the University of São Paulo and further honed her craft at the Opera Studio and Opera Academy, at Theatro São Pedro. Her European journey began with the highly esteemed Neue Stimmen competition in Germany, where she first gained international recognition. This success was followed by acclaim in other prestigious competitions, including the Paris Opera Competition, Belvedere Competition, Maria Callas Competition, Operalia, and BBC
Cardiff Singer of the World, solidifying her reputation as a rising star in the opera world.
In addition to her competition success, Camila was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Plácido Domingo Foundation, which provided the opportunity to join his Opera Studio in Spain.
Following this, she embarked on a global tour for two consecutive years, performing in opera concerts alongside Plácido Domingo and conductor Eugene Kohn, an experience that further established her on the international stage.
Camila has performed a wide variety of roles, including Contessa di Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Mimì (La Bohème), Antonia (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Marguerite (Faust), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Donna Elvira and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Violetta (La Traviata), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Hannah Glawari (The Merry Widow), Micaëla (Carmen), Leïla (Les Pêcheurs de Perles), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Liù (Turandot), among others.
More recently, Camila made her debut as Madama Butterfly, and she is now incorporating arias from roles such as Manon Lescaut, Tosca, and Arabella into her repertoire, with the potential for adding more Lyric Spinto roles in the future.
Camila has performed leading roles such as Contessa di Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Opéra de Toulon, Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at both the Garsington Opera Festival and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Donna Elvira at the Bregenzer Festspiele, and Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen with Opera North, among others.
Beyond opera, Provenzalle is also recognised for her unique musicality in the symphonic repertoire. She has performed Mahler’s symphonies and Rückert Lieder, Vier Letzte Lieder of Strauss, Carmina Burana, and numerous works by Beethoven, Mozart, and Villa-Lobos, as well as contemporary composers such as Edino Krieger and João Guilherme Ripper.
Camila Provenzalle is the soloist of the ongoing Amazônia project, conceived by Sebastião Salgado and Simone Menezes, which brings together Salgado’s powerful photographs of the Amazon rainforest with the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos. Sponsored worldwide by Zurich Insurance, the project has been presented in more than fifteen cities in 8 countries and continues to tour internationally. It includes her acclaimed recording of Villa-Lobos’ Amazon Forest with the Philharmonia Zürich, released by Alpha Classics.
In addition to her work with Amazônia, Camila Provenzalle has appeared on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including performances at the Philharmonie de Paris, Barbican Centre in London, Opera of Zurich, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Opera de Bordeaux and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. She also made her Carnegie Hall debut in New York with another Amazônia-inspired project, presented by Marin Alsop and performed with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP). Upcoming appearances include the Cologne Philharmonie (November 2025), the Philharmonie de Liège (December 2025), and the Kulturpalast Dresden (2026).
In June 2025, among her recent stage highlights was a lastminute debut as Mathilde in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell at Linz Opera, confirming her reputation for musical precision and stage assurance under pressure.
With an ongoing commitment to artistic growth, and guided by her mentor Jack LiVigni, Provenzalle continues to evolve as an artist, ready to captivate audiences with her vocal versatility and emotional depth.
