Acclaimed by critics for her artistry, vocal brilliance, and compelling stage presence, Victoria Khoroshunova has established herself as one of the most exciting newcomers on the international opera scene.
In the 2024/25 season, Victoria returns to the Prague State Opera for performances of Cavalleria rusticana and Le Grand Macabre. She also makes her role debut there as Goneril in Aribert Reimann’s Lear, in a new production directed by Barbora Horáková Joly and conducted by Hermann Bäumer. In Italy, she makes her debut as Santuzza at both Teatro Morlacchi Perugia and Teatro Comunale di Todi. Additional highlights include debut performances with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra in Ankara and the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra.
During the 2023/24 season, Victoria sang Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana at the Prague State Opera, Teatro Goldoni Livorno, and Teatro Chiabrera di Savona. In early 2024, she made her role debut as Elena in Boito’s Mefistofele at the Prague State Opera. Further engagements included appearances with the Slovak Sinfonietta, performances at the Opera Nova Festival (Prague National Theatre), and the Concentus Moraviae Festival. She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Andriy Yurkevych, Jiří Rožeň, Gabriel Feltz, and Mario Menicagli.
In June 2022, she made a highly praised debut at the Prague State Opera, performing the female leads (Woman, Donna Anna, and the Nun) in Erwin Schulhoff’s Flammen, directed by Calixto Bieito. Her portrayal was lauded for its “intensity” and “strong dramatic expression” (Operaportal). She reprised these roles at the Janáček Brno Festival in November 2022. The production was nominated for the prestigious International Opera Awards 2022.
Other career highlights include singing Nedda (Pagliacci) at the Aegean Music Festival, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) with the Greek National Opera’s Opera Studio, Bruckner’s Requiem at the Olympia Municipal Music Theatre Maria Callas in Athens, and various recitals across Europe.
Victoria has been recognized with numerous awards, including the UNESCO Greece Maria Callas Award for Young Artists and the honorary award of the Grand Prix Maria Callas Competition. She also won First Prize at the Luciano Neroni International Singing Competition.
She studied at the Odessa National Academy of Music and graduated from the Athens Conservatory of Music. She has refined her artistry under the guidance of Hara Savino, Renata Scotto, Cesare Scarton (Santa Cecilia Opera Studio, Rome), Susan Bullock, and Daphne Evangelatos.
