Ilya Selivanov was born in 1989 in Leningrad, where he graduated from the Vocal faculty of The N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory (class of Professor Yuri Marusin). In the theater Conservatory, he has performed the roles of Alfredo in La Traviata, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Vaudemont in Iolanta.
In 2012 he became the soloist of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera Singers.
Season 2013/14 he made his debut as Lensky with Maestro Gergiev at the premiere of Eugene Onegin at the Mariinsky theatre. Also, he performed such parts as Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Levko in May Night, Gritsko in Sorochynsky Fair, the Prince in Rusalka A. Dvořák, Gvidon in The Tale of Tsar Saltan.
In the season 2014/15 he took part in the premiere and recording of War and Peace Prokofiev, where he sang the role of Anatol Kuraghin (directed by Graham Vick, conducted by Valery Gergiev).
In the 2015/16 season he performed the role of Alfredo at the premiere La Traviata at the Mariinsky theatre (directed by Claudia Solti, conducted by Valery Gergiev).

In 2017 he debuted at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia in the title role in "The Idiot" by M. Weinberg and made his European stage debut as Alfredo (La traviata) at Theater Dortmund, and soon was invited to perform a solo part in Reqiuem by Antonín Dvořák at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg (with Hamburg Symphony Orchestra under the button of Ion Marin).

He also participated in a concert tour of Russia, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France and Germany.
Performed with such conductors as Ion Marin, Valery Gergiev, Gavriel Heine, Nikolaj Znaider, Alexander Titov, Yuri Simonov, Christian Knapp

In 2018 he sang Vaudémont in Iolanta, wich opened the Cross-Cultural Year of Russia and Japan at the Tokyo’s Suntory Hall (conductor Mikhail Pletnev).

In 2019, he took part in Bolshoi’s tours to France, performing part of Mikhailo Tucha from The Maid of Pskov concert versions (conductor Tugan Sokhiev). In the same year he appeared at the Wrocław Opera as Rodolfo in La Boheme.

In 2020, he sang Alfredo (La Traviata) at the Sofia Opera.

His roles in 2021 included Fürst Myschkin in Der Idiot and Narraboth in Salome and Spoletta in Tosca at the Bolshoi Theatre as well as Lensky in Eugen Onegin at Sofia Opera and Ballet.

In 2022 he will, amongst other enegagements, sing Kai in The Story of Kai and Gerda and Fürst Myschkin in Der Idiot at the Bolshoi Theatre as well as Narraboth in Salome at the International Festival of Vocal Music "Opera Apriori".

• Prize-winner and recipient of the special prize at the I and II International Young Opera Singers’ Competition Opera without Borders (Krasnodar, 2014, 2015) • Prize-winner at the International Competition in Kohtla-Järve (Estonia, 2009)
• Prize-winner at the Maxim Mikhailov International Opera Singers’ Competition (Kaluga, 2013)
• Grant-recipient of the Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation (2011-2012)
• Quarterfinalist Operalia 2017.
