Biographie / biography
Gocha Abuladze studied at the Kutaisi M. Balanchivadze Music College and then attended the Tbilisi’s music conservatoire, specializing with Nodar Andghuladze, Makvala Kasrashvili and Maia Tomadze. In 2009, Mr. Abuladze studied with Monsterrat Caballé, who chose him as soloist for a concert at the Mozart Hall in Zaragoza.
He won several International Competitions: Chavchavadze and Al. Griboedov International
Competitions (2007), Città di Ferrara International Lyric Competition (2011), Concorso Lirico Magda Oliviero in Milan (2011), Concorso Riccardo Zandonai in Riva del Garda (2012).
He made his debut in Die Zauberflöte (Papageno), Eugenij Onegin and Il Barbiere di Siviglia
(Figaro) at the Tbilisi State Opera Theatre. He then performed in various concerts in Telavi, Kutaisi, Tbilisi (with Vazha Chachava) and in Vilnius.
G. Abuladze made his italian debut singing the role of Germont in La Traviata in Ferrara, other engagements included: Pagliacci (Tonio), under the baton of J.Kovatchev and the direction of F. Zeffirelli and in Gazza Ladra (Giorgio), G. B. Rigon conducting and D. Michieletto directing at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona; Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro at the Tiroler Festispiele, under the baton of G. Kuhn; Masetto in Don Giovanni at Opéra de Montpellier. As part of Magdeburg ensemble he performed: Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Bohème, La Traviata, Così fan tutte and Un ballo in maschera.
He made his debut in London with Grange Park Opera in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame (Count Tomsky).
Mr. Abuladze made his debut in Rigoletto (title role) in Tirana; in Respighi’s La campana sommersa (Ondino) in Cagliari (DVD Arthaus) and as Rodrigo in Don Carlo at the Teatro Regio in Parma, where he has came back for a concert with De Falla’s El retable
de Maese Pedro. He took also part in the productions of La Bohème (Marcello), Turandot (Ping), La Boheme (Marcello) and Rigoletto (Monterone) in Cagliari. He then returned in Tirana singing Germont in La Traviata, role he has recently sung in Busseto and Bolzano with the Teatro Regio in Parma.
Gocha Abuladze was Cavalier Belfiore in Verdi’s Un giorno di regno at the Opernfestspiele in Heidenheim; Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Erl; Marcello in La Bohème in Magdeburg; Barak in Busoni's Turandot in Cagliari; Carmen (Escamillo), Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Aida (Amonasro) at the Arena in Verona;
