Biographie / biography

Born in Persia and a resident of Berlin, American baritone Anooshah Golesorkhi has achieved renown as a charismatic and forceful interpreter of the most demanding baritone roles with some of the world’s leading opera companies.

In North America, amongst other theaters, he has appeared with the Metropolitan Opera, most recently as Amonasro in Aida and Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana (also in Rigoletto, Tosca, Nabucco, Otello, Vespri Siciliani and Sly), San Francisco Opera (Shaklovity in Khovanthchina and title role in Arshak II), in Carnegie Hall as Michonet in Adriana Lecouvreur, Barnaba in La Gioconda and as Ezio in Attila, in Washington as Michele in Il Tabarro, as Renato in Miami with the Florida Grand Opera, in Montreal and at the San Diego Opera as the High Priest in Samson et Dalilah. He was in Tokyo as Rigoletto and in Taiwan as Scarpia and in Tel Aviv as Jack Rance in Fancuilla.

His European credentials are equally impressive, with appearances at the Vienna State Opera (Alfio), Teatro Real in Madrid (Simone Boccanegra and Paolo), Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (Jokanaan), Royal Albert Hall (Scarpia), the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Rigoletto, Nabucco, Alfio, Tonio, and Amonasro, Hamburg State Opera as Macbeth, Deutsche Oper am Rhein as the Count di Luna, Jago, Amonasro, Scarpia, Rigoletto, Michel in Tabarro, both Alfio and Tonio in Cav/Pag, Germont, the Father in Hänsel und Gretel, Simone in Florentiniche Tragödie, in Leipzig as Nabucco, Tonio, Germont, Rigoletto, Miller, Macbeth, Jack Rance, as well as in many other German theaters.

He was hearad as Scarpia in Copenhagen, Rigoletto in Göthenberg, in Athens Opera as Rigoletto, Opera de Nice in as Gerard (Chenier) and as Sancho Pansa in Don Quichotte.


In Italy, he has appeared in Cagliari as Nabucco and Guigielmo in Puccini’s Le Villi, as Jokanaan at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and was selected by Maestro Zubin Mehta for Amonasro in Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. In Norway, he has appeared with the West Norwegian National Opera as Jago, Macbeth, Renato, Nabucco and Luna.

Mr. Golesorkhi has performed under the baton of many of the world’s greatest conductors including Zubin Mehta, James Levine, Valery Gergiev, Nello Santi, Michael Jurowski, Axel Kober and Alain Guingal to name a few.

Mr. Golesorkhi in the title role of Holländer as well as the Father in Hänsel and Gretel under the baton of Maestro Axel Kober in Dusseldorf, Jack Rance and Donner in Leipzig, Telramund in a concert performance of Lohengrin in Los Angeles and in the roles of Scarpia, Jago, Boccanegra and Rigoletto.


Mr. Golesorkhi is scheduled to sing, amongst others, the roles of Scarpia, Tonio, Alfio, Gerard, Macbeth, Nabucco and the father in Hansel and Gretel during the coming season.
