Biographie / biography
Sebastian Holecek was born in Vienna, he studied singing at the Music Academy in Vienna,
His first fix engagement was at Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich (Don Giovanni, Figaro in "Nozze di Figaro" and Harlekin)
He made his debut at Staatsoper Vienna as Papageno and later on also at Volksoper
Wien.
Guest appearances brought him as Papageno, Don Giovanni, Mozart Figaro to
Paris, Monte Carlo, Athens, Basel, Düsseldorf, Santiago de Chile, St. Gallen,
Staatsoper Berlin, Barcelona and Capetown.
More recently he was heard as Harlekin in Philadelphia and New York, as Heerrufer in
Naples, with "Daphne" in Barcelona, as Falke and Danilo at Teatro Regio in Turin, with
"Turandot" (by Busoni) in Amsterdam and as Eisenstein in Graz and Bonn.
Furthermore, he had contracts in Cagliari for Wagner's "Die Feen", in Madrid as Papageno, in Paris as Danilo and in Graz in "Evangelimann".
Until 2018 he was in a fix contract at Volksoper Wien where he sang Germont, Peter in "Hänsel und Gretel",,Escamillo, Jochanaan, Eisenstein, Michele and Fürst Igor.
Furthermore he had engagements for Kaspar in Amsterdam, Sprecher and
Monterone at Covent Garden London, Eisenstein in Stuttgart. Jochanaan, Scarpia and Escamillo at Volksoper Wien, Geisterbote in the new production of "Frau ohne Schatten" with Maestro Petrenko and "Hänsel und Gretel" at Staatsoper München, Jochanaan at Staatsoper Hamburg, and Minister in "Fidelio" at Staatsoper Wien and at Festival Salzburg.
At Covent Garden London he sang Kothner in "Meistersinger von Nürnberg" and Peter in "Hänsel und Gretel", in Stuttgart Scarpia, at Staatsoper München with "Frau ohne Schatten" and “Hänsel und Gretel”, in Rome as Pizarro, in Madrid as Alfio, in Milan, Tokyo and China with 9° Beethoven, in Catania as Jochanaan, at Staatsoper
Wien as Peter in "Hänsel und Gretel", in Beijing with "Meistersinger von Nürnberg" and in Paris, Basel and Luxemburg as Pizarro.
Recent contracts were productions of "Frau ohne Schatten" at Staatsoper Wien and Bayerische Staatsoper München, "Salome" in Bologna and Tel Aviv, “Fidelio” in Prague, Luxembourg and Bilbao, furthermore Peter in “Hänsel und Gretel” in Frankfurt and „Rheingold“ in Beijing.
Due to the Corona pandemic "Frau ohne Schatten" at Bayerische Staatsoper München and Amsterdam were cancelled.
Sebastian Holecek has recorded CDs of "Die Feen" (Wagner), "Irrelohe" (Schreker), "Christophoros" (Schreker), Sprecher in "Zauberflöte" and a CD with Mozart arias, he can be seen on videos and DVD's of “Don Giovanni” in the title role as well as in a production from Vienna as Masetto and as Sprecher in “Zauberflöte”.
In 2022 Sebastian Holecek will sing Pizarro in Fidelio at Barbican Center, London.
