A refined concert performer
Paolo Rumetz has also performed in several concert pieces, which have seen performing Praecursor Domini by Frescobaldi, Bach’s Johannes Passion, Saint-Saëns' Christmas Oratorio, Hasse The Conversion of St Augustine, Carmina Burana and Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Geselle.
Regular presence at Wiener Staatsoper
Since 2013 he has been a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera, where, among other roles he has sung extensively the title role in Rigoletto, and furthermore in Trovatore, Elisir d’Amore, Aida, La Cenerentola, Roberto Devereux, Il barbiere di Siviglia, L’Italiana in Algeri and The Cunning Little Vixen.
A lyrical Germont and a powerful Renato
He recently sang as Giorgio Germont in Traviata in Vienna and Klagenfurt, and Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera in Vienna in November 2017 and in a new production at the Chemnitz Staattheater.
He was Amonasro in Aida and Rigoletto in May 2018 in Vienna again.
In summer 2016 he debuted at the Salzburg Festival in Faust by Gounod (Wagner) with Piotr Beczala, and in October 2016 in the Vienna Staatsoper’s new production of Armide by Gluck in the role of Hidraot, and in Falstaff under Zubin Mehta.
Paolo Rumetz sings regularly under the baton of world class conductors, such as Zubin Mehta, Nello Santi, Myung Whun Chung e Franz Welser Möst.
Conte di Luna and newer engagements
Recent engagements include Conte di Luna – Trovatore, Don Magnifico – Cenerentola, Alfio – Cavalleria Rusticana, and Dulcamara – L’elisir d’Amore, all at Vienna State Opera.
Whilst staging regularly in Vienna, Mr Rumetz selectively considers additional engagement in productions around Europe, and at music festivals.
