Biographie / biography
Anton Keremidtchiev was born in Bulgaria, studied singing at the Bulgarian State Conservatory in Sofia and with Boris Christoff in Rome.
He began his career as a bassist and was a soloist at the Sofia State Opera and the Leipzig Opera. This was followed by guest performances at the Teatro Verdi Trieste, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and in Treviso. He also sang u. in Paris, Valencia, Oviedo and Moscow.
Under the direction of Claude Thiolas, he switched to baritone in 1997 and made his successful debut with the role of Jago.
He has been a freelancer since 2003.
His repertoire includes Renato, Germont, The Four Villains, Amonasro, Barak, Amfortas, Simone Boccanegra, Macbeth, Rigoletto, Telramund, Don Pizarro, Kurwenal, Escamillo, Miller and Jochanaan.
Guest performances have taken him to the Hamburg State Opera, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, the Mannheim National Theater, the Frankfurt Opera, the Wiesbaden State Theater, the Kassel State Theater, the New National Theater Tokyo, Helsinki, Budapest, Hong Kong, Leipzig Opera, Prague, Bratislava, Zagreb, Paris, Basel, Vienna Volksoper, Basel, Graz, Beijing, Vilnius, Toulon, Rennes and Rouen.
His concert repertoire includes works by Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Mahler, Brahms, Shostakovich, Orff and Schönberg.
Anton Keremidtchiev has worked with renowned conductors such as James Conlon, Adam Fischer, Kiril Petrenko, Lothar Zagrosek, Marc Albrecht, Paolo Carigniani, Carlo Franci and others.
