The mezzosoprano Margarita Gritskova is one of the leading singers oft he younger generation. She has sung at Wiener Staatsoper important roles like Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Idamante (Idomeneo), Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Isabella (L‘Italiana in Algeri), Olga (Eugene Oneguin), Krista in the new production of “vec Makropulos” in the staging Peter Stein, Bradamante (Alcina) and Smeton (Anna Bolena).
She inaugurated also the Vienna Opera Ball in February of 2014. In 2016 she sang Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) at a tour of Wiener Staatsoper in Japan under the baton of Riccardo Muti. In 2018 she sang this role again in Aix-en-Provence. In 2018 she made her role debut as Carmen at Wiener Staatsoper, with the tenor Piotr Beczala as Don José. Moreover she has sung at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Staatsoper Hamburg, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Köln, Opernhaus Zürich, Opéra de Québec, Salzburg Festival, Festival de Ópera de Tenerife and Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
Margarita Gritskova got the award as “best mezzosoprano of the opera season” at the „Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía“ in Valencia. She has also appeared in acclaimed concerts with José Carreras in Vienna, Innsbruck, Oviedo, in Covent Garden in London and at the Carnegie Hall in New York.
Most recently, in April, 2026, she made her successful debut in Australia as Angelina in La Cenerentola in a new production of Opera Queensland.
In summer of 2026, she will give her debut as Dalila at a new production of Samson et Dalila in a new production at the Austrian Klosterneuburg Opera Festival.
