The Slovakian conductor was an award-winning concert pianist before completing his conducting studies at the Vienna University of Music and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique et de danse in Paris. This was followed by numerous positions as a répétiteur,
At the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Vienna State Opera. During his studies in Vienna, he was awarded the Viktor Bunzl Scholarship for extraordinary artistic talent.
He was principal conductor of the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava, from 2018 to 2019.
Valentovic is cutrently a music director of the National Opera Košice in Slovakia from 2020.
Since 2013 he has worked regularly as a conductor and also as a song accompanist with Edita Gruberová.
He was head coach and assistant conductor at the Tiroler Festspiele Erl in Austria and at the Stadttheater Bozen in Italy, conductor and chorus master at the Cape Town Opera in South Africa from 2004 to 2006 and first conductor at the Istanbul State Opera from 2006 to 2008.
Valentovic worked with Sir John Elliot Gardiner at Theater du Chatelet as a volal coach in 2003 (Les Troyans) , Franz Welser-Möst at the Vienna State Opera as a head coach and musical assistant in 2011 (From the House of the Dead) and Friedrich Haider as a second conductor at the Slovak National Opera in Bratislava (numerous operas).
Peter Valentovic is currently considered one of the most successful and critically acclaimed conductors in Slovakia and regularly conducts at the opera houses and Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras in Slovakia and Czech Republic. He has also worked with the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Welsh National Orchestra, SWR Symphonieorchester Baden-Baden, Münchner Symphoniker, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Dortmunder Philharmoniker, Nürnberger Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin, Philharmonie Essen, Nürnberger Symphoniker, Welsh National Opera Orchestra, Haydn Orchestra Bolzano, Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini Parma, St.Gallen Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Opera Orchestra, Budapest Opera Orchestra, Budapest National Philharmony, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra as well as numerous orchestral concerts in Japan with New Japan Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra.
In 2019 made Valentovic his conducting debut in China with Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra.
In Vienna he was a guest repetiteur, language coach and musical assistant of Russian and Czech repertoire at the State Opera and made his successful debut at the Theater an der Wien in 2013 at a gala concert with Edita Gruberová.
As a song accompanist, Valentovic has appeared with Edita Gruberova at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Zurich Opera House, as well as in Passau, Baden Baden, Frankfurt, Budapest, Tokyo, the Vienna State Opera and La Scala in Milan.
