George Oniani

Tenor

Tenor George Oniani was born in Georgia. At first he studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatory under the supervision of Maestro Nodar Andguladze (1995-2001).
From 2001 to 2003 G. Oniani was an undergraduate in the „Accademia di perfezionamento per cantanti lirici“ of Scala Theatre in Milan where he has studied with the Maestros: Leila Gencer, Lucioana Serra and Luigi Alva.
George Oniani has been awarded first prize at the Riccardo Zandonai competition (2002, Riva del Garda, Italy), moreover he was grand prize winner at the „Trajan Grozavescu“ international competition (2003, Lugoj, Romania), first prize and „Best Tenor“ winner at the „Bul-Bul“ international singing competition (2005, Baku, Azerbaijan) and 2nd prize winner at the „Martinelli & Pertile“ singing competition in Montagnana, Italy.
President of Georgia confered George Oniani with state premium “Tsinandali“ for achievement in the cultural sphere(2003).
George Oniani’s italian debut has been in Scala Theatre in Milan , singing Giuseppe Verdi’s „Oberto, conte di san Bonifaccio“ (2002, Conductor: Nicola Luisotti, Producer: Pier Alli).
Oniani has sung in many important opera houses: La Scala Theatre in Milan, Gran Theatre Liceu in Barcelona,Theatre Carlo Fenice in Genoa, Theatre Donizetti in Bergamo,Festival Puccini at Torre del Lago,Verdi Theatre in Busseto, Bellini Theatre in Catania, Theatre Comunal in Rio de Janeiro, Unam Theatre in Mexiko City, Marinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Theatre in Lisbon, Osaka, Konzertebow in Amsterdam, Macau Cultural Center in Macau(China), Deutsche Opera in Berlin, Volksopera in Vienna, Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, Theatre Bonn, South African State Theatre in Pretoria, Latvian National Theater in Riga, „Novaja opera“Theatre in Moscow, Munich Philharmonia Gasteig, Theater Hannover,Theatre Mannheim,Theatre Cologne,Daegu Opera Hause(South Korea),Jerusalem Concert House in Jerusalem, and many more opera houses in Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Netherlands, Israel, Turkey, Russia, Swiss, Sweden,Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia, USA.
In his course of career George Oniani with his multipurpose voice has performed lyric, spinto and dramatic tenor roles with many renowned Directors and Conductors , such as Pier Luigi Pizzi, Pier Alli, Nicola Luisotti, Stefano Ranzani, Daniel Oren,Will Humburg, Sir David Pountney,Antonello Allemandi, Marco Bohemi, Jansug Kakhidze, Reinald Giovanetti, Isaac Karabchevsky, Stefan Blunier, Vakhtang Kakhidze,Dirk Kafftan,Yuri Aleksandrov, Alberto Veronesi,Vasili Barkhatoff,Dmitry Jurovski,Jilbert Delfo,Dimitri Bertman, Franz von Leake, Silviu Purkarete, Dietrich Hilsdorf, Balash Kovalik, Fabrizio Maria Carminati ,Gianluca Marciano, Fabiano Monica, Marcus Bosch, Bruno Berger-Gorsky ,Vasiliy Barkhatov,Roland Schwab,etc.
