Biographie / biography

Russian soprano MARIA NAZAROVA was born in USSR. After graduating from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Moscow in 2010, she started her Masters degree at the Unisevsität Mozarteum Salzburg, in Austria. In 2013, she moved to Vienna to study in Opera Studio at the Vienna Conservatory (MUK). During her studies she sang the role of Conessa di Folleville in Il Viaggio a Reims at MuTh Theatre in Vienna.

In 2014, Maria was invited to perform the role of Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel at the Vilnius City Opera with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and sang this role in 2015 as well. In addition, she debuted as Lisa in La Sonnambula at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Germany.

Ms. Nazarova is a prizewinner of several international voice competitions and won the First Prize at the Primo Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino in 2015, in Italy.

In 2015, having finished her studies, the young artist Maria received a Novomatic scholarship at the Wiener Staatsoper. In 2016, she became a member of the Ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper and has been heard as Adele, Musetta, Oscar, Sophie (Werther), Lisa (La Sonnambula), Despina, Yniold, Najade, Fiakermilli, Clorinda, Barbarina and Papagena among others.

In February 2018, Maria Nazarova made her Teatro alla Scala debut as Adele in Die Fledermaus under the baton of Cornelius Meister. Following her debut in La Scala, she was invited to sing again at the historic Milanese house in 2020.

Maria made her debut at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in 2016 as Despina in Cosi fan tutte, and sang this role in 2018 there again. The same year, she also sang Despina at the Vilnius City Opera. In Summer 2018, she performed the role of Papagena in a new production of Die Zauberflöte at the Salzburg Festival.

In the season 2020/21, she made her debut at the New National Theater Tokyo as Adele and will sing the role Golden Cockerel at the Opéra de Lyon and at the d'Aix-en-Provence Festival in the Oper The golden Cockerel. She will sing at the Staatsoper Stuttgart as Adele.

2012-2013 Was awarded the Hübel-Scholarship of University Mozarteum.

2013 First Prize at the International Singing Competition of the German Mozart Society, Prague / Czech Republic

2013 Winner of project Vocalists of London Gates Education Group, Moscow / Russia

2014 First Prize at the International Singing Competition Les Azuriales, Nice / France

2014 Finalist of International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, Düsseldorf / Germany

2015 Winner of the Clip Competition, Portofino / Italy
