Biographie / biography

Sofia Soloviy was born in the Ukraine, she finished her studies at the Music Academy in Lviv, Ukraine, and obtained her diploma in piano and a university degree in musicology and singing, then she studied at the Academy of Osimo, Accademia Rossiniana (Pesaro) and Accademia Chigiana (Siena). She obtained the Diploma Accademico second degree with the Musical Institute “Orazio Vecchi” in Modena and won prizes at competitions in Vercelli, Milano, Padua, Rome, Trieste, Toronto and Deutschlandsberg.

She appeared as Donna Elvira and Elisetta in “Matrimonio segreto” in Osimo and Venice, as “Nozze di Figaro” Countess in Seoul, as Rosalia in “Equivoco stravagante” in Bad Wildbad and in Strasbourg under Mo.Zedda and as Fiordiligi in Siena. At the Festival in Martina Franca she sang Teodolinda in “Gli amori di Teolinda”, Gennariello in “Salvator Rosa" under Mo. Maurizio Benini, Idamantes with Mo. Corrado Rovaris and Salome with Mo. Massimiliano Caldi.

At Teatro dell’Opera in Rome she was heard as Ruggiero in “Tancredi”, Azema in “Semiramide” (Mo.Gianluigi Gelmetti, Pierluigi Pizzi) as well as with Countess in “Nozze di Figaro”. She appeared as Giovanna Seymour in “Anna Bolena” at Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, took part in a tour in Japan and sang at the Beethoven Festival in Siena with Mo. Gelmetti, in Santiago de Chile with Mo. Benini, at Teatro S. Carlo in Napleswith Mo. Curtis and in Luxembourg with Mo.Sperling, Pamina in Treviso, Jesi, Fermo and Udine, Arminda in “Finta giardiniera” in Salzburg, Donna Anna in Padua, “Seven gates of Jerusalem” in Munich and in Nizza (Mo. K. Penderecki), Rusalka in Athens and Manon Lescaut in Lubliana.

In 2017/18 and 2018/19 she sang Megacle in “Olympiade” Pergolesi in Jesi, Fiordiligi in Dijon, Nedda in Liège, Requiem of Schumann in Utrecht and Amsterdam, Elektra in “Idomeneo” in Klagenfurt, Lucrezia in "Due Foscari" in Liège, Elena in "Vespri siciliani" in Modena, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, “Verdi Requiem” in Ukraine, Nedda in Bari, Elena in "Vespri siciliani" in Valencia, "Gli Prodigi della Divina Grazia" in Jesi and Verdi “Requiem” in Lemberg, Ukraine.
In Teatro Real Madrid she appeared as Poppea in Monteverdi’s “Poppea e Nerone”, in the title role in "Alceste” (dir. Krzysztof Warlikowski), “Le Nozze di Figaro” Countess and the title role of “Alcina”.

Recent contracts included the title role in Aida at Theater St. Gallen which was cancelled due to Covid19, the new productions of Verdi's "Masnadieri" (Amalia) at Volksoper Vienna, "Clemenza di Tito" (Vitellia) in Klagenfurt, "Don Carlos" in Kyiv, Donna Anna and her first “Lohengrin” Elsa in Ukraine, "Anna Bolena" (Giovanna Seymour) in Liège and Muscat in Omanand "Rusalka" in St. Gallen.

Ms. Soloviy recorded on CD “Idomeneo”, “Salome” (title role), “Salvator Rosa” by Gomes with Mo. Benini, “Stabat Mater” by Boccherini and “Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria”, she can be seen also in a DVD of “Anna Bolena” with Mo. Carminati and “L'Olimpiade” Pergolesi with Mo. DeMarchi.
