From the time of his professional operatic debut at the Teatro alla Scala in 2002 as Don Alfonso in Lucrezia Borgia, bass Burak Bilgili has had tremendous success singing in internationally renowned venues such as the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall of New York, Washington National Opera, San Francisco Opera, Seattle Opera, Opéra de Montréal, Canadian Opera in Toronto, Liceu de Barcelona, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Caramoor Festival, Savonlinna Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, working wish such conductors as Gianandrea Noseda, Evenlino Pidò, Nicola Luisotti, and Alberto Zedda. Recent engagements have included Nabucco (Zaccaria) at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Rigoletto (Sparafucile) in Mexico, Messiah by Haendel with the Washington National Symphony Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Norma (Oroveso) at Miami Opera, Luisa Miller (Conte di Walter) at Staatsoper in Hamburg, Romeo et Juliette (Laurent) and Don Pasquale with Atlanta Opera. Prior to that notable engagements were Zaccaria in Nabucco at Washington Opera, Ramfis in Aida with Edmonton Opera, Procida in Vespri Siciliani with the Caramoor Festival, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte for Avignon, his San Francisco Opera debut as Ferrando in Il trovatore, Fiesco in Simon Boccangra for L’Opéra de Montréal.

Future engagements include L’italiana in Algier in Montpellier, Frer Laurent in Beijing at NCPA, and Don Pasquale ion Ft. Worth. In 2016-17 he performed Sarastro in the Magic Flute in Naples, and David Dichiera’s Gala Concert at Detroit Opera. Recent concert engagements include Dvořák’s Stabat Mater with the New York Choral Society at Carnegie Hall, Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass with the Atlanta Symphony, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and the Istanbul Symphony State Orchestra, Handel’s Messiah with the Washington National Orchestra, as well as Ramfis in Aida with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. He opened the 2014/15 season perfoming as Sparafucile in Rigoletto at Omaha Lyric Opera followed by Colline in La bohème at Naples Opera, Nourabad in Les Pécheurs de perles at Miami Lyric Opera and Il barbiere di Siviglia (Don Basilio) at Canadian Opera Company and Don Pasquale (title role) at Cincinnati Opera. A recipient of numerous awards, he graduaded of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and the Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University. He also studied with Maestro Bonaldo Giaiotti and Katia Ricciarelli at the Academia Lirica Internationale in Parma, Italy.
